Research Assistant / HiWi (8 hours/week) - Climate Opinion Data Analysis with R

The research group of International Political Economy and Energy Policy, led by Prof. Aya Kachi at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Basel, invites applications for a detail-oriented and dedicated Research Assistant (HiWi). This role is integral to our dynamic team's research on climate policy, employment, and public opinion. Start date: June 15, or by agreement. Duration of the contract: 4 months with no extension

Your position

You will clean, summarize, and visualize micro-data based on survey experiments using R. The data are related to specific topics related to climate policies and employment. We will provide guidance for the type of analysis and visualization to be conducted.

Your tasks include:

  • Understanding the data structure based on survey experiments.
  • Summarizing, analyzing, and visualizing data with graphs and tables, and explaining them effectively to the team.
  • Carrying out administrative tasks in support of research projects.

Your profile

  • Exceptional commitment and dedication to assigned tasks.
  • Keen interest in climate change, sustainability policy, and their intersection with political and economic systems.
  • Proficient in data analytics using R.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with LaTeX is a plus.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a master's program at the University of Basel.
