Post Doc Position in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiological Modeling for Critical Care 70%

The Cardiopulmonary Physiology And Mechanical Support (CPAMS) Research Group offers this position at the Department of Biomedical Engineering (DBE) at the University of Basel. The DBE is jointly run by the University of Basel and the University and University Children's Hospitals Basel and combines teaching and research at the interface between natural sciences and medicine in translational biomedical engineering research.
The CPAMS Research Group is looking for a dynamic and independent post-doc interested in computational modelling of cardiovascular and respiratory physiology to improve understanding of critical care physiology and mechanical circulatory support.

Your position

  • Develop and validate computational models of cardiovascular and respiratory physiology.
  • Analyze and interpret data from preclinical and clinical studies.
  • Integrate multi-source data to create comprehensive physiological models.
  • Contribute to establishing CPAMS as a center of excellence for critical care physiology.
  • Opportunity to participate in preclinical lab work and ECMO simulations.
  • Assist in grant applications and funding acquisition.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to translate research findings into clinical practice.
  • Participate in preclinical studies and visit the ICU to gain clinical insights.
  • Publish research findings in high-impact journals.

Your profile

  • PhD in either Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, or related disciplines.
  • Strong programming skills, preferably in Python and/or MatLab.
  • Experience in signal processing, data analysis, and computational modeling.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular and/or respiratory physiology is highly desirable. Prior experience with animal studies and/or clinical data analysis is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and validate in silico models of complex physiological systems.
  • Publications or research experience related to physiological modeling or signal analysis.
  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Highly motivated, interactive team player.
